Milan Nowoitnick Kampfer
born and raised in Berlin, discovered dance through education projects with Royston Maldoom and others, particularly Maldoom’s community dance project with Sir Simon Rattle and the Berlin Philharmonic, which was immortalised in the film “Rhythm Is It!” During and after high school, Milan prepared to study dance by attending the advance training program at Dance Works Berlin as well as working as a dancer and artistic assistant on a voluntary basis for the community dance company “lis:sanga”, where he was a founding member. He then completed his Bachelor of Art in Dance/Maker at the ArtEZ University of the Arts in the Netherlands. Since 2017, he has been part of the university’s “Circle of Guides”, mentoring students in their final year and helping them transition into professional employment.
During his final, practical, year of study, he danced with the dance company of the Konzert Theater Bern under the leadership of Estefania Miranda, where he stayed for four years. He worked with choreographers including Dimitris Papaioannou, Felix Landerer, Club Guy and Roni, Roeri Dubbe, Amos Ben-Tal, Overheard Projects, Yumin Yang and Noa Shadur. In 2017, Milan Nowoitnick Kampfer auditioned for the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch and was accepted into the company. He had wanted to experience the roots of Tanztheater and the greatness of Pina Bausch close up, and was also attracted by the uniqueness of the ensemble. He values the opportunity to work with dancers from different generations, learning from their experience. Most of all he loves sharing the stage with such special people and artists, and creating new things with them.
Milan Nowoitnick Kampfer’s other passion is photography. He creates his own works and also photographs for the Tanztheater Wuppertal, capturing his colleagues during rehearsals and on stage when he is not performing himself. Some of his photos have already been published in newspapers, programmes, on posters etc.
