Fire & Flame
Fire & Flame Fire & Flame stands for creative exchange, and aims for social and artistic heterogeneity. The spectrum ranges from the ensemble’s choreographic research-laboratory, workshops for professionals and amateurs, and encounters with artists, to the participation in artistic processes interdisciplinary programme series and discussion forums, to site-specific actions, projects for young people and home visits by the company. The desire to flaunt boundaries in the exchange between fellow humans and practitioners from the arts and culture scene, to encourage and inspire each other, all play a role, along with curiosity about the unknown and the ability to delight in »play«.
Fire & Flame sees itself as a platform for communication and active involvement in dance at the theatre, for anyone who loves to experiment, friends of dance and for artists.
Pina Bausch laid the foundation stone for youth work in the city of Wuppertal back in 2008, when she realised a long-held wish to cast her 1978 piece Kontakthof for teenagers of fourteen years and over. Around forty Wuppertal schoolchildren from a range of schools and backgrounds worked on Kontakthof for a year, in intensive rehearsals with dancers from the original cast.
Our new youth project is a major element of a wider participation scheme that will expand over the coming years under Adolphe Binder´s direction.
The Tanztheater is striking new paths by involving young people in an artistic capacity.
The project, which will be led by Ruth Amarante and realised in collaboration with various schools, youth centers and artists from the city of Wuppertal aims to make it possible for young people from a range of social and cultural backgrounds throughout the city to experience dance, music and art, to sensitize them to a range of artistic forms of expression, movement and genres.
The project is funded by the ART MENTOR FOUNDATION LUCERNE
