Daniel Proietto

Daniel Proietto

born in Argentina, studied classical ballet at the school of Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires.  He has been engaged with several companies among them Ballet Santiago de Chile, Ballet del Teatro Argentino and the Contemporary Ballet of Teatro San Martín. From 2003-2006 he was with Carte Blanche - the Norwegian national company of contemporary dance. In 2013 the Norwegian National Ballet created the position “Guest Artist” for Proietto. Since 2007 he created and staged works for choreographers such as Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Russell Maliphant and director and choreographer Alan Lucien Øyen. He choreographed for the Norwegian National Ballet, as well as for the Vienna State Ballet and the Cuban National Ballet, among others. Proietto has won an array of accolades for his work both as a dancer and choreographer, among them the 1st Prize at the “21st International Choreographers Competition” in Hanover, Germany, for his choreographic debut; the UK Critic’s Award for “Outstanding Dancer”; the “Best Dancer of the Year” by Dance Europe.
