Over the past fifteen years Adolphe Binder has been artistic director of the GöteborgOperans Danskompany in Gothenburg, Sweden, of BPBerlin, and of the dance theater company at the Komische Oper, Berlin.
In the 1990s she worked largely as a dramaturge, curator and producer for performing arts (including Expo 2000 Hannover, Deutsche Oper, Berlin, Friedrich Kulturzeitschriften, Schauspiel Hannover) and in cultural studies research (University of Hannover).
Adolphe Binder has published on body and identity, including a book on the subject of gender and the stage (1996).
She is and has been a member of a range of German and international committees, juries and networks for artists and producers, Joint managing director of Dance Germany’s lobbying network 'Ständige Konferenz Tanz', and a Goethe-Institut artistic research fellow.
Adolphe Binder studied literature, history, philosophy and political science.
She was born in 1969 in Brașov, Romania and emigrated in 1978 with her family to what was then West Germany.
Currently she lives in Gothenburg and Berlin.
